Kitaev chains with long-range pairing.

چکیده
We propose and analyze a generalization of the Kitaev chain for fermions with long-range p-wave pairing, which decays with distance as a power law with exponent α. Using the integrability of the model, we demonstrate the existence of two types of gapped regimes, where correlation functions decay exponentially at short range and algebraically at long range (α > 1) or purely algebraically (α < 1). Most interestingly, along the critical lines, long-range pairing is found to break conformal symmetry for sufficiently small α. This is accompanied by a violation of the area law for the entanglement entropy in large parts of the phase diagram in the presence of a gap and can be detected via the dynamics of entanglement following a quench. Some of these features may be relevant for current experiments with cold atomic ions.

Weanalyze the quantumphases, correlation functions and edgemodes for a class of spin-1/2 and fermionicmodels related to the one-dimensional Ising chain in the presence of a transverse field. Thesemodels are the Ising chainwith anti-ferromagnetic long-range interactions that decaywith distancer as a r 1 , as well as a related class of fermionicHamiltonians that generalize theKitaev chain, where...
متن کاملTopological superconducting phase in helical Shiba chains
Recently, it has been suggested that topological superconductivity and Majorana end states can be realized in a chain of magnetic impurities on the surface of an s-wave superconductor when the magnetic moments form a spin helix as a result of the RKKY interaction mediated by the superconducting substrate. Here, we investigate this scenario theoretically by developing a tight-binding Bogoliubov-...
متن کاملLocal Density Approximation for Pairing Correlations in Nuclei
We introduce a natural and simple to implement renormalization scheme of the Hartree–Fock–Bogoliubov (HFB) equations for the case of zero range pairing interaction. This renormalization scheme proves to be equivalent to a simple energy cut–off with a position or density dependent running coupling constant. Subsequently, we present self–consistent HFB calculations with a full consideration of th...
متن کاملProbing the role of long-range interactions in the dynamics of a long-range Kitaev Chain
We study the role of long-range interactions on the non-equilibrium dynamics considering a longrange Kitaev chain in which superconducting term decays with distance between two sites in a power-law fashion characterised by an exponent α. We show that the Kibble-Zurek scaling exponent, dictating the power-law decay of the defect density in the final state reached following a slow quenching of th...
متن کامل0 Se p 20 10 Magnetic impurities in the honeycomb Kitaev model
We study the effect of coupling magnetic impurities to the honeycomb lattice spin−1/2 Kitaev model in its spin liquid phase. We show that a spin-S impurity coupled to the Kitaev model is associated with an unusual Kondo effect with an intermediate coupling unstable fixed point Kc ∼ J/S separating topologically distinct sectors of the Kitaev model. We also show that the massless spinons in the s...
